On Thursday, September 15, 2016, we officially launched TransGov, a set of comprehensive tools to enable citizens of Greater Accra Metropolitan Assembly access timely and accurate data about developmental projects in their local communities.
The event was attended by people from all walks of life including governance experts, students, personnel from the public service, CSOs and some members of the press.
Also in attendance were dignitaries which included, Dorothy Gordon, Director General of the Advance Information Technology Institute- Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence (AITI-KACE) and Franklin Ziggah, an e-government specialist from the National Information Technology Institute (NITA). The rest included Kwame Ahiabenu, II, Executive Director of Penplusbytes, a media and governance advocacy NGO and Mr. Asare, a representative from our partners, Making All Voices Count (MAVC).
The participants expressed excitement about the platform and congratulated the TransGov team for coming up with such an innovation.
In her speech, the chairperson of the event, Dorothy K. Gordon, lauded the TransGov team and gave advice on how to make the platform socially and economically sustainable.
In the demo session, which was manned by the Chief Technology Officer of TransGov, Kennedy Anyinatoe, the event attendees expressed excitement about the capabilities of the platform and urged the TransGov team on to scale higher heights.
The vision of TransGov is to encourage citizen participation in local governance to enhance the quality of public service delivery in Ghana.
